An order was executed March 13, 2020, declaring a local disaster in and for the Cordillera Metro District. The District’s General Manager’s March 13, 2020, Declaration of Local Disaster Emergency, previously continued to and including April 8, 2020, is hereby further continued to and including June 1, 2020, as permitted pursuant to C.R.S. § 24-33.5-709, due to the imminent threat caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.  The General Manager is directed to continue implementing measures with respect to District employees and access to certain District owned facilities.

The official action helps trigger the district’s ability to make emergency appropriations as well as apply for aid and assistance from state and federal agencies for implementation of emergency plans.

Cordillera Metro District General Manager Rachel Oys executed an order March 13, 2020 declaring a local disaster emergency in and for the Cordillera Metro District, effective immediately. The executive action is in response to the COVID-19 pandemic which has now been recognized by Eagle County and State of Colorado Public Health Officials as well as the Governor of Colorado and President of the United States, in declaring states of emergency.

This administrative procedure, authorized by the District and the Colorado Disaster Emergency Act, allows for action by an executive officer of a political subdivision to implement its local prevention, preparation and response to the current COVID 19 outbreak in Eagle County, currently defined as a pandemic.

The declaration activates the district’s plans for emergency situations for a seven-day period, ending on March 20. The Cordillera Metro District extended that timeframe at its Friday, March 13 special board meeting to end April 8, 2020. The official action also helps trigger the district’s ability to make emergency appropriations as well as apply for aid and assistance from state and federal agencies for implementation of emergency plans.
